Grabbing the Bull by the Horns

Day in and day out, Melissa Anderson and Nate Cole diligently endeavor to lead the women's lacrosse team at USD in it's pursuit of excellence on the lacrosse field.

Melissa Anderson grew up in Syracuse,NY where she played Lacrosse at Baldwinsville High School.  She went on to become a scholarship athlete and 4 year starter at the D-1 University of Massachusetts.  While at U-Mass she was named 2 time captain, 2 time Defensive All American, and 2 time MVP among other Atlantic 10 awards.  Her senior year she was named to both the North-South and East-West All star games.  She continues to play Lacrosse in California for the San Diego women's lacrosse club.

Melissa has been coaching lacrosse since her senior year in HS.  What began with camps during college turned into a love for sharing the game with anyone who was interested.  Melissa has coached at all levels including NCAA d-2 Champions CW. Post Long Island University, High School level back in Syracuse, various clubs, and Bishops High school here in San diego.  She is also coaching abroad this summer in Australia for global starz.

Melissa's enthusiasm and love for lacrosse show in both her play and coaching style.   She is excited and ready to lead the USD Toreros to a successful season.

Nate Cole played lacrosse first at East Syracuse-Minoa HS in Syracuse, and then at Drexel University in Philadelphia.  Under coach Chris Bates, in his freshman year, his team got Drexel its first winning season in over two decades.  His sophomore year they achieved Drexel's first ever top-20 ranking.  He began coaching first at East Chapel Hill High School (NC), Torrey Pines High School, and most recently the USD Men's Club Team.  He's very excited to be coaching women's lacrosse for the first time and is honored to have been selected by the USD Women's Lacrosse Club.

With their patience and guidance the lady torero's will most certainly be able to hone their bull fighting skills.
